Anantara Golden Triangle Elephant Camp & Resort

Chiang Saen Jungle Opulence 🗝🗝 MICHELIN Ideal for: Adventure Seekers, Nature Lovers

CHIANG SAEN, THAILAND

Our take

Sleeping inside a transparent bubble while elephants move through the jungle at dawn — that's the pitch, and it delivers. The Golden Triangle property earns its reputation on three things: genuine elephant conservation encounters, three-country views where Thailand, Laos, and Myanmar blur into one ridge, and MICHELIN-recognised dining that has no business being this good in the middle of nowhere. Come for two nights minimum. Skip it entirely if you want a beach, a city, or anything resembling a conventional resort rhythm. This is deliberate wilderness, not amenity theatre.

Set in 400 acres of our own forest it is the protection of this land from hunting, snaring and fishing that sets us apart. The land is used to look after 20 elephants and their mahouts in a natural setting while encouraging the mahouts to preserve their culture through guest experiences. As well as taking part in ethical guest activities we help to extend global knowledge of elephants by taking part in experiments with our Research arm.

Most of our kitchen ingredients and 100% of our elephant and buffalo fodder are ordered from the local suppliers thus helping the local community and farmers. Over 85% of the Resort’s staff are recruited from within the local villages many reaching Department Head and Manager level.

All waste, including from regular river clean ups, is separated and recorded; targets are set to reduce waste to landfill and all that can be is recycled. No single use plastic is used Front of House and work is underway with suppliers to eliminate it back of house. The Resort’s organic garden and cage free chicken farm supply the kitchens and activities such as our cooking school also support local suppliers and organic farmers. The irrigation pond is filled using a solar pump, pool & guest water is heated using Heat Pump technology and energy saving devices are used throughout. We are certified Platinum to Green Growth 2050, a Global Sustainable Tourism Council recognized standard.
