Why Alp
Fair question. You have the same internet we do. Here's what changes when a trip goes through Alp — and exactly how we're paid.
I
When you book a hotel through us, you pay the rate you'd find on the hotel's own site — often to the rupee. Our programs — Virtuoso, Marriott STARS, Hyatt Privé, IHG Destined and a dozen others — are direct partnerships with the properties themselves, not OTA listings. That's what makes the benefits possible.
Those benefits vary by hotel and program. The baseline: a room-category upgrade when one's available, breakfast for two, a hotel credit — usually $100, sometimes more — to spend on dinner or the spa, flexible check-in and check-out, and a note from us to the general manager before you land. Many hotels add more: airport transfers, spa and gym access, exclusive experiences, VIP recognition. Not every perk in every booking — each hotel's confirmed set is shown in the directory.
Your loyalty points accrue normally — same as booking direct. Your credit card earns on the full rate. You are not choosing between perks and points; the booking earns both.
The rates are almost always BAR Flex. Pay at the property, on checkout — not at booking. Cancel or modify within the standard window, no penalty.
We track the price too. Every preferred partner booking is monitored from confirmation until the cancellation window closes. If the rate drops by more than 5% — or more than $50 — we rebook at the lower price automatically. If the saving is large enough to move to a higher room category at the same cost, we upgrade instead. Every perk carries over.
None of this is a negotiation you have to conduct. It's attached to the booking because of who made it.
II
A good trip is mostly sequencing. Which Swiss valley to sleep in so the trains do the sightseeing for you. Which direction to run the Cyclades so the ferries work with you instead of against you. Whether Marrakech belongs at the start of Morocco or the end. We've made these mistakes already — on our own trips and a few hundred client itineraries — so you don't have to make them on your two precious weeks.
You'll see the thinking, not just the bookings: a complete written itinerary, the reasoning behind every hotel, and honest answers when something isn't worth your money.
III
Booking sites have help centres. You'll have a phone number — ours — and it answers on WhatsApp before, during and after the trip. Flight moved? Restaurant lost the reservation? Monsoon doing something unscheduled? You message; we fix. That's the actual product. The itinerary is just how it starts.
IV
Most hotel bookings cost you nothing. The property pays us a commission, and your rate is unaffected — this is how the hotel industry has worked for decades. For complex multi-stop itineraries we charge a planning fee, quoted upfront before any work begins. The full schedule is on our service charges page. No markups hidden in your rate. No surprises, ever.
From our travellers
"Japan was on our list for years, but we never quite knew where to start. Abhi built something we would never have found on our own — a private ryokan in the mountains, a tea ceremony that wasn't on any travel site, Kyoto without the crowds. Every day felt considered."
Questions, answered straight
Nothing, except ambition. "Agent" described a transaction; "advisor" describes the work as it actually is now — consulting on the trip, designing it, booking it, and advocating for you with every supplier in it. We answer to both.
Nothing for most hotel bookings — properties pay us commission at no cost to you. Multi-stop itineraries carry a planning fee, always quoted before we begin. See service charges.
Hotels and villas, international and internal flights, trains, transfers, guides, tables, safaris, yachts, ski weeks, visas and the documentation around them. If a trip contains it, we book it.
We do considered. Most of our trips lean five-star because the perks and our access matter most there — but the right answer is sometimes a family-run riad or a mountain inn, and we'll tell you when it is.
Group logistics are a specialty — multi-family holidays, milestone birthdays, weddings adjacent. Sixteen people across three islands with one shared bill is a normal Tuesday here.
Most Alp itineraries land between ₹3 and ₹15 lakh per person depending on destination and season, and we'll always tell you early if your wishlist and budget disagree — along with what we'd change.
