Our take
Peter Zumthor designed the thermal baths. That sentence alone should tell you if this is your place. Vals is remote, the silence is absolute, and the architecture earns every superlative thrown at it — stone, water, light, nothing more. Michelin-starred Silver Restaurant and helicopter transfers handle the arrival drama. Come for two or three nights of serious, adult stillness. If you need a lively après-ski scene or something to keep children entertained, this is the wrong mountain entirely.
