COMO Shambhala Estate

Pajangan Holistic Sanctuary ★★★★ Forbes 🗝 MICHELIN Ideal for: Health Enthusiasts, Wellness Seekers

PAJANGAN, BALI, INDONESIA

Our take

Buried in Bali's jungle interior, this is where people come when they're genuinely broken — or genuinely serious. Resident Ayurvedic doctors and yoga masters build programs around you, not around a brochure. The cuisine exists to heal, not impress. Private Residence pools, real silence, zero nightlife. If you want a Seminyak villa with cocktails at sunset, you're in the wrong valley entirely. But if three days here might actually change something — the way you sleep, the way you eat — then COMO Shambhala earns every rupiah.

Notable Features

  • Resident experts in yoga and Ayurveda
  • Personalized wellness programs
  • Access to private Residence pools
  • COMO Shambhala Cuisine

💡 Insider Tip

"Book the COMO Suite at Umabona for an exclusive two-bedroom experience and stunning views."

Overview

COMO Shambhala Estate is a true ‘Retreat for Change’ with resident experts including a yoga teacher, a Pilates teacher, an Ayurveda consultant and Oriental medicine expert. The holistic, 360-degree approach offers signature massage therapies and beauty treatments. A state-of-the-art gym and outdoor activities such as hiking and climbing make the most of the Estate’s unique location. Guests who want to make a lasting commitment to change can embark on one of our targeted Wellness Programmes — Cleanse, Be Active, Ayurvedic or Bespoke.

Our holistic approach means taking care of mind, body and spirit. We listen to you, your needs and ambitions, each guest receiving an initial wellness consultation that's then developed into a plan of treatments and activities. This is because we believe issues of wellbeing are as manifold as our guests are individuals, and involve diet, activity, education and relaxation. We also want you to enjoy Bali in your pursuit of better health with our daily complimentary schedule.

All of our individual rooms and suites exist within the setting of a Residence (Bayugita, Tirta Ening, Tejasuara, Wanakasa and Umabona). Each suite has one bedroom except the COMO Suite at Umabona, which features two bedrooms. We can advise on which room is suited to your particular needs (sizes vary, so please refer to detailed floorplans and descriptions relevant to an entire Residence). Whatever option, you get access to your Residence's pools, lounge areas and shaded pavilions.

Immerse yourselves in the tastes of the Estate enjoying our healthful approach to cooking. Dining at the Estate is flexible and easy, with various options available to suit different moods and tastes. We focus on nutrition to maximise personal performance by increasing concentration, energy levels and addressing blood-sugar imbalances. To address your specific needs, our resident nutritionist assesses your diet during an initial wellness consultation. Recommendations are made, working with the Executive Chef and our Ayurveda consultant (for those on a specific Ayurveda diet). COMO Shambhala Cuisine – designed to maximise energy and wellbeing with the use of raw, organic foods rich in vitamins and living enzymes – is available on all the Estate’s menus.

The Estate is located a 15-minute drive from Ubud - Bali's cultural hub. The name is derived from 'Ubad,' or medicine in Balinese. Our environment, occupying 23 acres, is all about state-of-the-art health facilities. Moreover, the Estate is located in Bali's spiritual heartland known for its healing waters. Join Retreats and Wellness Programmes, engaging with the landscape in the pursuit of better health. As always, the experience is enriched by our healthful COMO Shambhala Cuisine.

Please note: families and children under 16 years old are welcome only in Villas or Residences, which have been booked in their entirely only. COMO Shambhala Estate requires minimum three nights stay.

Sustainability Initiatives +

At COMO Hotels and Resorts, we act as custodians, rather than managers, of each destination. We recognise the privileges and responsibilities of being part of the community and are committed to celebrating local culture, supporting the domestic economy, and minimising our impact on the environment. Operating sustainably inspires and drives us to better serve our guests, develop our teams and plan for the future. These long-term goals are as important to us as creating memorable travel experiences for each of our guests.

Reducing consumption

We are committed to reducing our use of precious natural resources and minimising our impact on the environment. We manage our water and energy consumption by installing efficient equipment and fixtures.

Employee engagement and training are equally, if not more important. We welcome our guests’ participation in these initiatives, even as you enjoy COMO’s luxury experience. At all properties, you can choose to re-use towels and linens during your stay. Small gestures, such as shutting windows and sliding doors to conserve energy, also help a great deal.

Sourcing locally and sustainably

COMO sources locally whenever possible, supporting local producers, entrepreneurs, social enterprises and non-profit organisations. We choose these vendors not only because they often have the best and freshest produce, but also because they are leaders of sustainable economic development within their communities.
