HOOK, ENGLAND, UNITED KINGDOM

Overview

A beautiful Georgian family home lovingly restored to its historic origins, Heckfield Place is at the heart of a bountiful 438-acre estate. Less than an hour from London the estate has been rewoven, connecting a 46-bedroom House and grounds in this secluded corner of Hampshire. Resolutely natural, elegantly evolving, this is a living place centred on sustainability and a forward-thinking view on the relationship with the land. Everything is rooted in the estate’s rich soil, including the biodynamic Market Garden and organic Home Farm, walled gardens and 500-tree orchard that fuel the House's food and drink. Two distinct dining experiences curated by Chef Skye Gyngell await including the Green Michelin-starred Marle and open-fired Hearth, as well as the intimate Moon Bar nestled in the heart of the House. The estate offers much to do that makes the most of time spent in nature with experiences like cold water immersion, falconry, boating, picnics and more.

Meanwhile, the indoors beckon with restful ways to pass the time including daily tea and cake, films in the 67-seat screen room, time spent in the solitude of our therapeutic space of wellbeing, The Bothy by Wildsmith and more.

Nearby, there’s antiques shopping in Hartley Wintney village, rowing on the Whitewater River, and quintessential British pastimes such as cycling, horseback riding and clay pigeon shooting, along with some of the UK's most iconic sites such as Windsor Castle, Stone Henge, Highclere Castle and more.

Sustainability Initiatives +

Heckfield is a living place. Connected to the land, conscious of its environmental commitments, it is a Georgian family home lovingly restored to its classic origins and rewoven into a 438-acre landscape. Elegantly evolving, resolutely natural, we are laying down foundations to ensure that the we will be a vibrant, bio dynamic, plastic free estate that will still be here in 100 years’ time, a closed circle and self-sustaining.

To share our philosophies and intent with our guests and the wider community we have established the Assembly. The Assembly cultivates a space to unearth, reconnect and rediscover with a diverse programme of events including walks, talks, workshops, movies, performances and happenings with those staying with us, those just visiting and our neighbours around Heckfield.

We monitor and aim to reduce all energy usage, by metering all consumption of water and energy in specific locations in the building, and by using sustainable energy sources such as our Bio mass boilers, which are running on wood pellet producing the hotel’s heating and hot water.

We also measure and set targets for the reduction of our food waste and ensure that we are always working with our kitchen and farm team to ensure there is a use for everything.
