Our take
Bucharest's most loaded address — the Athénée Palace has watched coups, spies, and kings pass through its Art Deco corridors since 1914. Revolution Square is literally outside; the Romanian Athenaeum, a short walk. Le Diplomate Ballroom alone justifies a reservation. Come for the history you can feel in the walls, not a wellness retreat — if a cutting-edge spa is the priority, this isn't the answer. Two or three nights here is Bucharest done with proper weight.
