Mālama 'aina– meaning “to care for our land”– infuses Mauna Lani's everlasting mission to protect, preserve and respect our island world. It is our kuleana, or responsibility, to nurture and sustain our cherished lands not only for our community, but for the generations to come.
Here are a handful of green initiatives that Mauna Lani practices:
- Washing linens every third day unless otherwise requested by the guest in order to conserve water
- Mālama Honu, Mālama Honua and other cultural initiatives promote the protection and conservation of the environment, historical sites, natural attractions and cultural assets
- Refillable water bottles are provided in accommodations upon arrival
- Emphasis on local sourcing at Food & Beverage outlets throughout property
