Our take

MonAsty earns its name — a former monastery reborn as something genuinely arresting, where Byzantine bones meet sharp contemporary interiors in central Thessaloniki. This is a city hotel in the truest sense: the waterfront, the markets, the white tower all within reach, the design doing the heavy lifting inside. Come for two or three nights of northern Greece done with some style. If you're arriving expecting a pool and a wellness floor, redirect your budget — this isn't that. Culture-hunters and architecture obsessives, however, will find it difficult to leave.
