Sustainability Initiatives +
Social Empowerment (Local)
- In response to the COVID-19 Pandemic in early March 2020, the team recognized this time as an opportunity to give back and support our community. Miramar On The Move is a charitable initiative that delivered meals via the Miramar Food Truck to first responders and front line essential workers, local charities, and pet shelters in the Montecito and Santa Barbara community during the most challenging times of the pandemic.
Environmental Stewardship
- Chef Massimo Falsini and Caruso’s named a “Leader” in James Beard Foundation “Smart Catch” seafood program that recognizes chefs and restaurants committed to serving seafood fished or farmed in environmentally responsible ways.
- “Verdes” program that minimizes changing and washing of guestroom linens by creating default linen and towels change every third day unless guest opts out for more frequent changes. Standard created requiring room attendants to maximize collection of room keys and newspaper bags after guests check out for reuse to minimize waste. In-room turndown waters and Private Bar waters in-room recently changed to Proud Source Aluminum Water Bottles versus single-use plastic bottles.
- Enrolled in regional branch of Dock to Dish international network of small-scale fishermen, marine biologists and sustainable seafood advocates working in teams from ports and harbors across North and Central America.
