The Hotel Seiryu Kyoto Kiyomizu
KYOTO, JAPAN
Our take
Converted from a Meiji-era courthouse, the Seiryu wears its bones proudly — exposed brick, original ironwork, a rooftop terrace with Kyoto spread out below you. This is for the design-literate traveler who wants the city's soul without the anonymity of a resort campus. Kiyomizu-dera is practically at the door. But if you're holding out for kaiseki dinners on property or an onsen to dissolve into after dark, look elsewhere. This is Kyoto as architecture and atmosphere, not indulgence.
Notable Features
- Rooftop terrace with panoramic city views
- Historical building with preserved original details
💡 Insider Tip
