Vedema, a Luxury Collection Resort, Santorini

Santorini Cycladic Elegance Ideal for: Families, Wine Enthusiasts

SANTORINI, GREECE

Our take

Megalochori, not Oia — that's the first signal Vedema sends. A working vineyard, a cave restaurant carved into a centuries-old winery, suites with terraces wide enough to actually live on. This is Santorini for people who've already done the caldera selfie and want something that earns its price in atmosphere rather than altitude. Arrive by helicopter if the private villa helipad appeals. If you need a beach club within walking distance or the Fira buzz on tap, don't bother — the silence here is the entire point.

Notable Features

  • Historic winery cave restaurant
  • Private villa with helipad
  • In-house vineyard and wine production
  • Spacious suites with private terraces

💡 Insider Tip

"Book a dinner at Alati in the ancient winery cave for a unique dining experience, showcasing seasonal Greek delicacies."

Overview

Tucked away within the medieval village of Megalohori, the enchanting Vedema, a Luxury Collection Resort, has evolved from a 400-year-old winery and a 100-year-old mansion into an authentic, Cycladic-styled property. Dedicated to the needs of seasoned travellers, the resort has gained renown as a charming, luxurious and intimate retreat, encircled by a traditional stone wall and surrounding vineyards that overlook the quaint village.

A stylish, family-friendly resort, Vedema houses 74 spacious suites and villas, all with their own terraces and many with jacuzzis or private pools. The complex of rooms has been traditionally handcrafted to reflect the warmth and sophistication befitting the island. Interiors have been thoughtfully styled by integrating the fresh, angular lines of Cycladic architecture with island-sourced furnishings that offer sumptuous living.

Refined dining venues include Pergola that sits poolside and offers traditional options for breakfast and Trataro Restaurant which is set up around the crisp waters of Vedema’s newer and highly imposing pool, serves Greek cuisine, Mediterranean barbecues and snacks overlooking the emerald vineyards. The resort's signature restaurant, Alati, within the ancient winery cave, evokes a link to the country’s tradition, embodied in the fresh, seasonal treasures. The vineyards that surround the resort are nurtured to produce their own special vintage, available to guests in the historic 400-year-old Canava Wine Bar, providing a fascinating atmospheric backdrop for exploring the world of wine.

Elios Spa at Vedema Resort features a wide array of traditional therapies - with a twist - all aiming to stimulate, rebalance and rejuvenate, in surroundings of soothing Cycladic minimalism, while the fully-equipped fitness center is available for guests wishing to maintain their workout routines during their vacation.

A 3-minute drive from Vedema, sits Nafsika Estate, a majestic 5-bedroom villa spread across 350 sq.m., nestled in alluring seclusion. Overlooking Santorini’s breathtaking Caldera and grand volcano, the spectacular villa has ample outdoor space, featuring a large pool, jacuzzi and private helipad. Complete with its own butler and Executive Chef, Nafsika Estate reigns over the scenic mountainous coastline of Santorini’s Caldera with views of radiant sunsets.
