A Honeymoon in the Swiss Alps

Glacier Express, Matterhorn views, and lakeside romance: three Alps icons in one loop

Snow crunches underfoot as the Matterhorn turns pink at dusk. That is your first evening in Switzerland. Alp Travel Co. builds this honeymoon as a single west-to-east loop — Zermatt, St. Moritz, Grindelwald, then Geneva for your flight home. No doubling back. Swiss International Air Lines flies Delhi to Zurich in roughly eight hours and forty-five minutes. From the moment you land, every transfer, room, and activity is pre-arranged. Each hotel placement comes with breakfast for two, a dining credit, and room upgrades when available. You move through three distinct Alpine regions, and the scenery changes every time.

The Alps look different when you share them.

How it unfolds

FLY IN
Flight · 8h 45m DEL→ZRH, Swiss Air, ~8h45m, daily direct
DAYS 1–2

Zermatt

You check into The Omnia in Zermatt. Your balcony faces the Matterhorn directly — no craning, no repositioning. That afternoon, ride the Gornergrat Bahn to 3,089 metres. The rack railway climbs slowly enough to take it all in. Next morning, board the Matterhorn Glacier Paradise cable car to 3,883 metres. You stand above the cloud line. That evening, walk Zermatt’s car-free lanes. The village stays quiet after dark. It suits you.

  • Gornergrat Bahn panorama ride to 3,089m · 3h Morning departure for clearest views
  • Matterhorn Glacier Paradise cable car · 4h Highest cable car station in the Alps
  • Evening stroll in Zermatt village · 1h Best after 6pm when day-trippers leave
Train · 8h Glacier Express, Excellence Class, Zermatt→St. Moritz, 8h
DAYS 3–4

St. Moritz

The Glacier Express departs Zermatt and takes roughly eight hours to reach St. Moritz. Order lunch in the panoramic dining car. Watch the Landwasser Viaduct pass beneath you. At the Kulm Hotel St. Moritz, your suite sits inside the oldest winter-sports hotel in the Alps, open since 1856. One morning, take a private horse-carriage ride along Lake St. Moritz. The pace is slow and deliberate. Later, ride the Corviglia funicular to Piz Nair and have lunch at the summit restaurant. One afternoon, rent e-bikes and follow the Engadine valley floor at your own speed.

  • Private horse carriage ride by Lake St. Moritz · 1.5h Pre-dinner, golden hour for photos
  • Corviglia funicular & Piz Nair summit · 3h Lunch at the panoramic mountaintop restaurant
  • Engadine valley e-bike tour · 3h Late morning for mild weather and fewer crowds
Train · 4h 30m St. Moritz→Grindelwald, via Chur & Interlaken, 4.5h, 2 changes
DAYS 5–7

Grindelwald

Grindelwald arrives after a clean train connection from St. Moritz. The Romantik Hotel Schweizerhof puts you close to the First gondola. Ride it up, then walk the First Cliff Walk — a steel-frame path bolted to the rock face above the valley. The drop below is real. From there, continue to Bachalpsee and sit with the Schreckhorn reflected in the water. The next day, take the Jungfraujoch train to 3,454 metres. The Sphinx Observatory observation deck is open year-round. On your last evening, the hotel arranges a private fondue dinner in an alpine hut ten minutes from the property. A wood fire, two people, no agenda.

  • Jungfraujoch Top of Europe excursion · 5h Early departure for best light and fewer crowds
  • First Cliff Walk & cable car to Bachalpsee · 3h Afternoon for dramatic mountain shadows
  • Private fondue dinner in an alpine hut · 2h Book for your last night for a romantic finale
