India Palace Circuit

India's Palace Circuit: Delhi, Agra, Jaipur, and Rajasthan's finest heritage stays

The marble is still cool underfoot at dawn. That’s when India’s palace circuit makes its case. This route moves through Delhi, Agra, Jaipur, and deep Rajasthan — connecting fort stays, a heritage rail journey, and wildlife camps without a wasted day. You ride the Gatimaan Express, sleep inside working forts, and track tigers before breakfast. Alp Travel Co. handles every transfer, guide, and reservation. You just show up.

The marble is still cool at dawn. That's when a palace stay earns its price.

DAYS 1–2

Delhi — Andaz Delhi, by Hyatt

You land in Delhi and check into Andaz Delhi by Hyatt, where rooms run floor-to-ceiling glass above the Aerocity skyline. That evening, a private guide walks you through Old Delhi’s lanes. You eat chaat at a third-generation stall and finish with hot jalebi at the fryer. The next morning covers Humayun’s Tomb and the Lodhi Art District on foot. Before you leave, the Juniper Bar runs a short cocktail session — you build a drink using cardamom, kokum, and fresh curry leaf.

  • Private Old Delhi food walk · 3h Evening for bustling Chandni Chowk and street food
  • Humayun’s Tomb & Lodhi Art District tour · 3h Best in the early morning for quiet and light
  • Cocktail masterclass at Andaz Juniper Bar · 2h Pre-dinner, led by the hotel’s head mixologist
Train · 1h 40m Delhi→Agra, Gatimaan Express, Executive Chair Car, 1h40m
DAYS 3–4

Agra

The Gatimaan Express covers Delhi to Agra in under two hours. A car meets you on the platform and drives directly to The Oberoi Amarvilas, where every room faces the Taj Mahal. You’re at the monument before the tour groups arrive — your guide explains the inlay work up close while the light is still low. Agra Fort follows in the afternoon, same guide, no rush. High tea on the Amarvilas terrace ends the day with the Taj turning gold across the garden.

  • Taj Mahal sunrise private tour · 2h Arrive at dawn for near-empty monument and soft light
  • Agra Fort guided visit · 2h Late morning, less crowded after Taj
  • High tea with Taj Mahal views · 1h Late afternoon at Amarvilas terrace
Private car · 4h Agra→Jaipur, private car, Yamuna Expressway & NH21, ~4h
DAYS 5–6

Jaipur — Alila Fort Bishangarh – A Hyatt brand

A private car takes you to Alila Fort Bishangarh, a 17th-century fort converted into 59 suites above a village in the Aravalli hills. You’re up before sunrise for Amber Fort — the lake reflection is sharpest in that first light. Back at the property, a local resident walks you through Bishangarh village: the grain market, the temple courtyard, the potter’s workshop. Dinner is a traditional thali served in the fort’s open-air courtyard.

  • Amber Fort sunrise tour · 2h Early morning for cooler weather and fewer visitors
  • Bishangarh village walk · 1.5h Late afternoon, guided by Alila staff
  • Rajasthani thali dinner at hotel · 2h Evening, local specialties in palace setting
Private car · 1h 30m Jaipur→Ajabgarh, private car, ~1h30m
DAYS 7–8

Ajabgarh — Amanbagh

The drive to Amanbagh in Ajabgarh takes under two hours. The property sits inside walled Mughal gardens with 40 pavilion suites and a pool fed by a natural spring. Late afternoon, a vintage jeep takes you out on a cow dust tour — the hour when herds return and the low sun turns the dust gold. You stop at a centuries-old stepwell and two villages along the route. The following morning, the spa runs an Ayurvedic treatment using oils pressed on site.

  • Sunset cow dust tour by vintage jeep · 2h Depart 1 hour before sunset for best light
  • Stepwell & rural village excursion · 2h Morning, when local life is most active
  • Amanbagh spa ritual · 2h Book for late afternoon relaxation
Private car · 2h Ajabgarh→Ranthambore, private car, ~2h
DAYS 9–10

Ranthambore — Aman-i-Khas

Aman-i-Khas puts you in a tented camp on the edge of Ranthambore National Park. There are ten tents. The camp is closed during monsoon and runs a strict guest ratio to keep it quiet. You go out twice daily in a canter with a trained naturalist — the park holds one of India’s strongest tiger populations. One evening, the camp sets a dinner table in the scrub outside the perimeter. Lanterns, no generator noise, no other guests within earshot.

  • Ranthambore tiger safari (Zone 2 or 3) · 3h Early morning for best wildlife sightings
  • Aman-i-Khas bush dinner · 2h Post-safari, under the stars
Train · 5h Ranthambore→Delhi, Shatabdi Express, 5h
DAYS 11–12

Delhi

Andaz Delhi anchors the final two nights in Aerocity, fifteen minutes from the terminal — a deliberate buffer after five days of moving. Spend one afternoon in Lodi Garden, where the 15th-century Sayyid and Lodi tombs sit largely unwatched among old trees, then dinner at Indian Accent, a kitchen that works with the same regional specificity this circuit has been following. The car to the airport leaves in the morning.

"Greece delivered everything we'd hoped for — and then some. We moved island to island at our own pace, with every transfer sorted and every hotel briefed. Two properties upgraded us without any prompting. That's not luck; that's what booking through the right person gets you."
