Deer Valley's answer to a Tyrolean hunting lodge, Goldener Hirsch earns its reputation on authenticity — hand-carved Austrian furniture, folk art that wasn't bought in bulk, and a restaurant that takes alpine cuisine seriously enough to have won for it. Ski in, eat well, sleep deeply. This is for the guest who wants the mountain without the resort-campus noise. If you need a sprawling spa complex or a scene at the bar, look elsewhere. Two or three nights here and you'll understand why some regulars never bother trying anywhere else.
