Our take
The Carbide & Carbon Building was always too good to be just an office tower — Pendry finally made it a destination. Gold-trimmed Art Deco bones, a rooftop bar with the Chicago skyline doing the heavy lifting, and Millennium Park essentially at the door. This is a hotel for people who want the city to feel cinematic. If you're traveling with children expecting resort-scale distraction, or hunting a serious spa, redirect your budget elsewhere. Two or three nights here, done right, is Chicago at its most seductive.
