Our take
Red Mountain's uncrowded runs and the Kootenays' particular brand of wild quiet — that's what The Josie is selling, and it delivers. Ski-in, ski-out access is genuine, not aspirational, and The Velvet does the local larder justice after a hard day on the mountain. But strip away the snow and the surrounding wilderness and you're left with a boutique hotel, not a resort. No urban edge, no serious spa. Come for the mountain. If you need the mountain to come with a treatment menu, look elsewhere.
